The Theotokos is the only mother of all Christians
simplyorthodox: The Panagia (Theotokos) is the only mother of all Christians. And who does not call upon her. Because the sufferings of mankind are many in this vain world, nowhere else can we all find relief, except in the Panagia. When you are sitting there quietly, a thought suddenly comes to you and brings darkness. Where will you go to be loosed from this darkness? To the Panagia. All the...

shortbreadsh replied to your link: Why doesn’t the Vatican sell all of its treasures? I also love when people cleverly juxtapose B16’s statement about avoiding superficial glitter with the Vatican. Because the Vatican is… superficial glitter? Okay. IKR??? Tell that to Bernini and Michelangelo.  Also I hate how people act like the Catholic Church invented liturgical vestments.

Why doesn't the Vatican sell all of its treasures? →
This question really grinds my gears. Would you ask the Louvre (or any museum or preserver of artifacts for that matter) to sell their treasures? No because they don’t consider themselves owners of the artifacts, they consider themselves stewards of it. The Vatican derives no wealth whatsoever from the the artifacts it has preserved for 2000 years, and furthermore it doesn’t claim to...

approximately-infinity answered your question: How do we reconcile Evolution, and no Death before the Fall?? I would say Genesis isn’t to be taken 100% literally. That soon after homo sapiens appeared, they fell into sin. But before homo sapiens appeared, there had to be death. but death is a consequence of the fall… of homo sapiens. mehh?

we had our holiday party last night. the cardinal is here. we didn’t think this through.  I had to read for Mass on live television this morning, but apparently my exhaustion came across as great devotion, so that’s a win. Actually we all know I really need wings but oh well.

Anonymous asked: I'm not the previous anon. Pope is a servant? No way! Yes, priests, sure, but not the Pope. I used to think he's a servant too but when I saw him at World Youth Day, I felt that something is wrong. I don't know what to do, though I believe in God, I don't recognize the Pope as the vicar of Christ. In addition I hate Pope dolls and the fact that many people have this doll at...

Anonymous asked: You reject filioque. Catholics DON'T have to reject filioque. I don't care too much if doctrines of Catholics have changed since the early Christianity. Also I like the fact that Pope has power. With all this power he may be the future leader of this world. I truly believe it. thank you.

shortbreadsh: Hey, thanks for the question. First of all (and this isn’t a criticism of you) I kind of hate the terminology of “liberal” and “conservative” when applied to Christians, because so many great Christians have completely transcended these categories, and I think that’s how it should be. I really like how Fr. Benedict Groeschel, the founder of the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal,...

freyatlast: but the fact that some women freely choose celibacy out of a religious motivation is intolerably deviant and must be punished and mocked Women are fundamentally deceitful and weak. There’s no way they can remain celibate, and if they say they are, they are lying. Women are all whores.
