I cannot even tell you how much I hate this sentiment. Do you really think no girls have ever been abused by church leaders? There are lots, you just don’t get to hear about it because women don’t matter to anybody and because talking about priests abusing boys buys into the social myth that all gay men are paedophiles, but you know everybody knows that men in positions of power abuse female children that’s not a scocial crime, talking about it is.
(and also child abuse is endemic in protestant churches too don’t think it isn’t)

Yes. This issue makes me so angry too. It is offensive on every level. Everything you said is right on, plus on top of that the whole idea of making the abuse of boys into some kind of clever punchline is itself horrifically offensive. It’s really more important to these smug idiots to feel superior than it is that kids have been traumatized.

Agree with all of this. It makes me so sad that the many many young girls who have been abused at the hands of priests and other adults of influence, on top of having been abused, don’t really exist according to the media.
